Cactus Drink Well
Hi, I’m Jacky from Cactus and, as you’ll discover, good juice and smoothies are something of a passion.
It’s a story that begins when I was a child and my very ill sister — thankfully she got better with the help of our incredible NHS — but it was an experience that made a big impression. My earliest lesson was that healthy eating is more than getting your five a day — it’s about drinking, feeling and living ‘well’.
It was an idea that grew and led me to study Medicinal Chemistry with Pharmacology: and it was here that I discovered something that stopped me in my tracks. Happier eating isn’t rocket science, but modern production methods can be!
Most foods go through some fairly drastic processes to last longer on supermarket shelves — even ‘health’ juices and smoothies. Pasteurisation (which you may have heard of) and High-Pressure Processing (which you might not) can strip out enzymes from fruit and vegetables that are important to our health.
I knew that juices and smoothies are great ways to get vital nutrients inside us, but many shop-bought examples aren’t. It seemed that the only way for people to do it properly was to do it themselves — but sourcing, blending and delivering the best quality ingredients isn’t easy.
Then I had an idea: what if we could buy unadulterated, nutritionally balanced and fresh ingredients ready-made, delivered straight to our doors? Cactus was born!
Cactus delivers what shop-bought juices and smoothies can’t — all the nutrition of fresh fruits and vegetables. Using a process known as Individual Quick Frozen (IQF) our drinks seal in the goodness and protect all those healthful little enzymes. In fact, it’s so gentle and quick that it can often be more nutritious than the ‘fresh’ fruit and veg you’ll find in the supermarket.
Today you can enjoy the freshest juices and smoothies — ready to pour from our dry ice chilled sustainable sachets into your blender — and then on into you!
Cactus started as my family’s story — and now I hope it grows to become a part of yours.
